1. Post frequency and during peak hours
The Instagram algorithm supposedly prioritizes engagement, so the best way to gain success on Instagram is to be active! First of all, post regularly – if you want to publish a Instagram post every day, do it. If you prefer posting 2 times a week, then do that. However, keep it frequency. For example: Don’t post everyday for a week and then take a break for 3 weeks, because that will kill your growth on Instagram. Make a posting schedule and stick to it. But have in mind, the more often you post, the more engagement you will get in the long run.
Be aware of the peaking hours, in other words: the time when most people are active on Instagram. However, everyone’s audience is different so check your insights on you Instagram account to find out your peak hours. It’s always better to post when your followers aren’t sleeping, right?
2. The power of hashtags
Yes, hashtags are still working! You just need to use them the right way. You can actually get a lot of likes, comments and followers by using the right hashtags. How to do that? Firstly, use hashtags that are related to your post. Don’t put #summer on a Christmas picture for an example, but that’s pretty obvious right? Focus on related hashtags that people are searching for.
Secondly, find hashtags that are not too popular. The chance of getting noticed are very small if the hashtag has 200 million other photos. So if you want more engagement on your photos, use hashtags that are not super popular, but still used quite often.
Hashtags with 10K – 100K are better to use. They will give you more discoverability and engagement.

How many hashtags should you use on Instagram?
There’s actually no right number of hashtags. Use as many as you want, but you should use at least 9. However, not more than 30.
Awesome hack: If you don’t want to post the hashtags in your caption, post a comment within 1 minut after publishing your post, with all the hashtags. That works as well!

3. What you should do everyday
The Instagram algorithm prioritizes engagement. So you should focus on your activity.
So, this is what you should do daily to outsmart the Instagram algorithm 2023:
- Post Instagram stories
- Reply to your DMs
- Engage with other accounts, and the people you are following
- Respond to comments
- Post Photos in your feed
- Post IG Reels/videos
4. The screen time is very important
This is another hack to survive the Instagram algorithm. Instagram knows exactly how many seconds your followers are watching your content. Your job is to keep the interest for as long as you can. Write a good caption, and ask questions to your followers.
Make interesting Instagram stories. Actually, videos and boomerangs provides more screen time than photos. The key is to get more screen time, so focus on your content. For example, funny videos gives you a lot of engagement, as a result; people will share your stories and watch the videos over and over again. You get the point, right? 🙂
5. Keep publishing consistent Stories
Nowadays, less people are scrolling through their feeds, instead they spend more time watching stories. Actually, over 500 million people watch stories everyday, therefore stories are very important if you want to be seen and get exposure.
How many stories should you post a day?
For best engagement: 10 stories per day.
However, don’t post more than 20, because then your audience won’t watch all the way through and your stories will lose their value.
